Obituary:

Mr. Arvis “Buddy” Caves, Jr., 78 of Patterson, passed away Frday afternoon, July 27, 2012, at his residence.


Born in Douglas, Georgia on November 2, 1933, he had lived in Jacksonville for many years before moving to Pierce County in 1995.  A US Army veteran, Mr. Caves was a retired teamster with Local 512 and was also retired from Yellow Freight.  He had also worked with PIE Freight Lines for many years.


Mr. Caves was the son of the late Arvis Caves, Sr. & Roselle Standridge Caves.


Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Janice Lewis Caves of Patterson; his daughter and son-in-law, Susan & Billy Whiteman of Jacksonville; his son and daughter-in-law, Arvis Wayne & Evelyn Caves of Middleburg, FL; his sister, Cordelia Butler of Ambrose, GA; 4 grandchildren, Ashley (Billy) Merryman, Ryan Wayne Caves, Garrett Whiteman and Miranda Whiteman; his twin great grandchildren, Cadence Merryman and Cillian Merryman, and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.


Visitation:

Visitation for Mr. Caves will be held Sunday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock at the funeral home.

Service:

Funeral services for Mr. Caves will be held at 11:00 o’clock Monday morning, July 30, 2012, at the Twin Rivers Baptist Church in Hortense.


Mr. Caves will lay in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Cemetery:

Interment will be in the Twin Rivers Cemetery.
