A. Wanelle Davis Obituary

Mrs. Alice Wanelle Morgan Davis, 79, of Patterson, passed away Saturday evening, February 24, 2024, at her residence, surrounded by her family.

Born in Blackshear on May 14, 1944, she lived in Pierce County all of her life.  Mrs. Davis was a member of the Blackshear High School Class of 1962 and had worked as a telephone operator for Southern Bell Telephone for many years.  She loved caring for her flowers and houseplants, which was evident by her immaculate yards.  A true fashionista, she loved to shop.  She was a volunteer for many years, both with the City of Patterson and the City of Offerman.  Mrs. Davis loved to travel, both locally and abroad.  She was of the Baptist faith and was the longest living member of First Baptist Church in Blackshear, having joined in 1956.

She was a daughter of the late James Rayford and Lavenia Dixon Morgan.  She was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Joan Morgan; and both of her brothers, Jimmy Morgan and David Morgan.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Joe Davis of Patterson; special nieces, Alex (Austin) McKinzie of Screven, Millie Morgan (Connor Jones) of Savannah, and Christie (Devin) Strickland of Waycross; a special nephew, Cory Morgan (Tracie Sims) of Blackshear; special nieces and caregivers, Karen Collier, Monnie Smith, and Shanna Chesser; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held Thursday morning, February 29, 2024, at 11 o’clock from the First Baptist Church with Dr. Justin Gambrell officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Memorialization will be by cremation.

The family requests that members of the Blackshear High School Class of 1962 serve as honorary pallbearers.  Please meet at the church by 10:30 Thursday morning.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Hospice of South Georgia in Jesup, Dr. Don Waters, and the Oncology Unit of Memorial Health in Savannah.
